Why This is Important

Commercial building permit values reflect active investment in property, whether improvements to or maintenance of existing properties or development of new commercial properties.

About the Data

The value of commercial, business, and industrial building permits for each boundary divided by the area (in square miles) of each. These permits include new construction as well as renovations and exclude demolitions.

NOTE: Due to earlier discrepancies in permit value summaries, values shown here (as of 3/17/20120) vary in some cases from those released previously. Data improvements made at this time affect both residential and commercial building permit variables.
